List of Silver-Age keys... (for use in CGC Census Analysis)

68 posts in this topic

At aman619's request, I'm looking to expand the Silver Age list on my

CGC Census Analysis website...

http://www.gregholland.com/cgc/osissuesexpand.asp?os=2SA

Right now, I only have the "Top 10" according to Overstreet Guide...

but we should be able to expand that list pretty easily.

Here is aman619's first draft at a much larger "Silver Age Keys" list...

Action: 242, 252

Adventure 210, 247, 300

Amazing Advs 1 (the original series!)

Amazing Fantasy 15

Amaz Spidey 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 14, 50

Atom 1

Avengers 1,4

Batman 155, 171, 179, 200 Ann 1

Brave Bold 1, 28, 29, 30, 34, 54

Green Lantern 1, 40 59(?)

HULK 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 102

Hawkman 1

House Secrets 1

House Mystery 1

Journey into Mystery 83, 84

JLA 1, 9, 21

My Greatest Adv 80

Mystery in Space 53, 75, 87

Our ARmy at War 81, 83, 151, 168

Plastic Man 1

Sea Devils 1

Sgt Fury 1, 13

Showcase 4, 6, 8, 9, 15, 17, 20, 22, 23, 24, 27, 30, 34. 55. 60

Spectre 1

Strange Adventures 205

Strange Tales 101. 110. 115. 135

Superman Ann 1. 2

Supes GF Lois 1, 71 (or is it 70? Catwoman)

Supes BF Jimmy 1

Tales of Suspense 1, 39, 60

Tales to Astonish 1. 27. 35. 44, 57, 60

Tales Unexpected 1, 40

Wonder Woman 105

XMen 1, 2, 3, 4

What books should be added to this list? Should any be removed?

Does this list accurately reflect the "most valuable" (Overstreet guide) Silver Age?

Thanks! thumbsup2.gif

That's a pretty good list Aman put together.

I would add:

Adventure 260

B&B 43

Detective 225 (maybe it's SA, maybe it's not, but what the hell, can't hurt to add it in)

JIM 85 (first Loki)

Showcase 37 (first Metal Men)

TOS 58, 59, 63

TTA 59

I would delete:

Adventure 210 (definitely NOT SA)

DD 7 (hard to find, but not really a key)

Flash Annual 1 (why is it a key?)

TOS 60 (why is it a key?)

Also, what is the earliest SA Marvel book to have appeared in 9.8 so far? SA DC?

I'd also add (lesser keys, but still 'keys'):

FF#6 - 1st "Super-Villain" team-up (Doom-Subby)

ASM #39, 40 - Goblin books. 1st Romita.

-------------------

'Tec 225 definately needs added.

Thanks for the replies already guys...

Anyone want to take a stab at posting the Overstreet (#34) 9.2 values for these?

(I'll use them to expand the "Top 10" into a "Top 100" ordering)

You don't have to do them all... everybody pick a few... grin.gif

I'll start...

X-Men 1 - $13000

X-Men 2 - $2660

X-Men 3 - $1350

X-Men 4 - $1400

X-Men 5 - $950

Earliest Silver Age Marvel with a CGC 9.8

Amazing Spider-man # 1

Earliest Silver Age D.C. with a CGC 9.8

Showcase # 38

those are all great additions. Forgot about Adv260, and Tec 225 and most of the others.

Adv 210 was Kyrpto of course, which is a SA character, but chronologically its GA

DD7 ia abook I figure many people check often in th ecensus, Thats really the criterion I tried to use here.

Flash Ann aside from being an early annual, I guess youre right.

TOS 60__ I probably got th eissue wrong as the first of the Cap series.

heres what I suggested to Greg to add to his site: A simple one click list of all the keys and most watched books for the Silver Age, This is an expansion of the Overstreet Top Ten list that exists that was a stop gap easy to assemble list.

That top ten is just the tip of the iceberg. I for one would love to see all the important and valuable books all in one easy to reach list rather than selecting individual titles and issues. Its all an ongoing process to create tools that make mining the vast census data that Valiantman so amzingly puts at our doorsteps!!

I'm a bit confused.. is this a Silver Age Key list, or simply a list of the most valuable issues, in order? confused-smiley-013.gif

Hmm... well, the list I've been using is the Overstreet Top 10 for Silver Age...

if we'd like to expand it, we'll need the "most valuable" according to OS.

If we're talking about a separate list altogether, then we won't need the values,

and I'll just list everything alphabetically...

Either way (or both) is fine with me.

dammm - - you guys are making me wish I'd spent more than ten minutes assembling it!!!

I agree with all of these. (except maybe the B+Bs. I tried to keep it close to 100 books, if we are not careful we could hit 200. But then again, thats not so bad, I often look up runs of 100s of a title as it is.

I say alphabetically by DC and Marvel.

we can have a poll to see which company goes first!

Though, speaking on behalf of the DC contingent, maybe we should be fair and balanced and do it alphabetically by publisher too!!!
