Value of Blue Beetle 54

4 posts in this topic

I was hoping to get a little help in figuring out a ballpark value for a book.

I've got a nice Blue Beetle #54 from 1948 (famous good girl cover, referenced

in SOTI) that is restored.

It's a CGC 7.5 with moderate pro restoration, including color touch,

pieces added, tear seals, and cover reinforced. Has C to OW pages.

So, it's a well-known book, looks great, but it's had quite a bit of work done to it.

Here's a LINK to a 6.0 copy that sold on

Heritage several years ago.

Anyone got a clue about how much this puppy is worth?

(and no, it's not for sale)

thanks, gozer

I'm going to say around $275-$300. On the other hand, that Heritage copy went for about twice what I would've expected, so I may be low. But as slow as the market is for PLOD books now (I brought a few with me to Chicago for trade, including a More Fun 52 and Detective 34 and got NO traction with them), I'd rather be conservative.

That's unbelievable. I'd buy either one of those books in a New York minute if I could afford 'em, PLOD or not.

Just saw that Jay Parrino's site (www.jp-themint.com) has

the Mile High copy (CGC 9.4) for sale at $16,000. Yowza.
