Ah yes. The infamous secret defenders 7. Metarog and I were looking into this last year. I scraped the sticker off one, ( don't you'll kill it) and as you can see, marvel wasn't happy with their already expensive $1.25 cover price. For krap, anyway.

I have a Fantastic Four 390 that had a sticker in that same area, because it had a cover date of JUN when it should have been JUL.

Reminds me of what underground comic distributors or publishers did with backstock that hadn't sold in the 1970s. They would just put a sticker with the new higher price over the old one. Sometimes they came off just leaving a light circle of residue, other times they took paper with them. I would have left them on if I'd known that in the long run they weren't considered a defect.
