Have they ever revealed the nature of the zombie outbreak in the comic?

 

If it's a localized viral outbreak of some kind, then it very well could be limited to the USA only, kind of like in 28 days where it was just england(or wherever)

No way is a zombie getting on an international flight unnoticed, or casually strolling onto a cruise ship.(well, I guess if someone just got bit before their flight or cruise it could happen) but don't they change pretty quick? Like an hour or less?

 

But if it's some kind of end of days, wrath of God biblical stuff, then it very well could be world wide.

 

Or if it's a pandemic flu type thing that can be spread by birds or whatever, then it could jump smaller bodies of water and get all over the place.

 

I hope they explain at some point how it all started, and what it is.
