RRP issues

Thank you very much for your answers.

@boozad: Thanks for clarification how to see if it’s a RRP or a Diamond Retailer Summit. How sure are you about this ?

I ask because I checked the issues below to see if they are “Not for sale” or if they have a barcode until I stumbled upon “All Star Batman” #8, where I found both editions, one with barcode and price and one without (I try to upload the images).

I did some research on the internet and came to the following conclusion. Please be aware that this is all speculation, I have no proof and please correct me if I’m wrong:

RRP: This is where DC Comics invites selected retailers to come at their own cost to a meeting, where they talk about if DC’s doing things right or not. As a kind of cost reduction the retailers get the RRP copies for free.

Diamond Retailer Summit: This is where Diamond gives free copies to dealers (probably only to those who actually are on the show and not just visiting) at their annual shows.

O.K., I found out about All-Star #8 myself: The issue with price is the normal variant, the issue without price then the ... whatever

Couldn't they a least make different covers for those other variants ...

There is a slight difference in the colour. The RRP has a blue hue to the sketch and the title header, whereas the standard variant has just a normal sketch with a white band to the title.

RRP Editions, Diamond Retailer Summit Editions its all the same to me...

The RRP meetings are hosted by DC. There is a specific group of retailers invited by DC to attend these.

The Retailer Summits are hosted by Diamond. Any Diamond account, or prospective Diamond customer can attend these.

For those wondering why it matters if a retailer giveaway is from from a Diamond Retailer Sumit (DRS Edition) or a Retailer Roundtable Program (RRP Edition) there are a lot less retailers invited to the latter and therefore the assumption is that the print runs of RRP's are much lower than RRP's.
