For cripes sake, grab a couple BWS renditions of Storm and model it after those.

My favorite BWS X-Men cover.

I cannot properly express my hatred of BWS.

I liked him when he started working for Valiant.

Until then his work looked like a complete ripoff of Kirby, and I can't stand Kirby.

His Valiant art seemed to become more of his own style.

So, basically you missed the period between when he stopped riffing Kirby until he worked at Valiant? That's like 20 years of material lol

No. He was finding his way during that period.

His new style didn't fully blossom until Valiant, IMO.

The first few issues were Kirbyesque, but by the time he left the series, his work was anything but. (shrug)

BWS's contributions at Valiant when it comes to his Solar, Eternal Warrior and Archer & Armstrong work definitely stood out. Alpha & Omega was a fantastic way to bring Solar back into Modern, the Three Muskateers story in Eternal Warrior/A&A 8 was a fun read, and the Master Darque Eternal Warrior 6-7 issues were made that much better.

Good times!

When BWS started working for Marvel he was schooled in the Kirby 'House Style', because thats what Marvel made all of the artists do. Once he started on Conan (1970) he quickly achieved his own look....
