The 2nd Annual LAS VEGAS COMIC EXPO on September 28-29 (Sat-Sun) 2013

14 posts in this topic

Last year's inaugural LVCE convention was well attended and well received, so The Las Vegas Comic Expo just announced their dates (09/28/13 - 09/29/13) and location (returning to The Riviera Casino & Hotel) for 2013 this year, for updates (which should occur frequently, but just posted a "save the date" message initially right now), visit the official LVCE website: http://www.lasvegascomicexpo.com

It's held on:

Sept 28, 2013 (Saturday) 10:00 am - 7:00 pm

Sept 29, 2013 (Sunday) 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

at:

Riviera Casino & Hotel

2901 Las Vegas Blvd. South

Las Vegas, NV

The details of the artist and celebrity guest list, programming, exhibitors/vendors, and everything else should be forthcoming (just keep checking the site and/or the message boards and their social media updates), being that the show is roughly 5 months away, I know the show organizer is working diligently on it now, and is listening to feedback and requests for this as well as next and forthcoming years, so feel free to contact him @ this link: http://www.lasvegascomicexpo.com/contact/

It was a great show last year, 'tho I mainly attended as a volunteer lending a helping hand, so didn't get to take full advantage of the shopping, getting art sketch commissions, autograph signatures and other stuff I normally do as an attendee.

The 2012 show, last year had over 50 guests from A to Z... from Jay Antacleto to Chrissie Zulo, and so many celebrity guests in between, including Eric Basaldua, Joe Benitez, Simon Bisley, Tim Bradstreet, Mark Brooks, J. Scott Campbell, Mike Debalfo, Ale Garza, Adam Hughes, J.G. Jones, Bob Layton, Iain McCaig, Mike Mignola, Marat Mychaels, Brian Pulido, Stephane Roux, Len Wein, and Battlestar Galactica's TRICIA HELFER too!

The 2013 LVCE show should be a show stopper worth coming out to Las Vegas for on September 28 - 29...

I'm there for that week. The remaining members of The Dead are at The Palms a few days after this, and there's a big BJ tournament the following weekend.

Had a good time at last years show. Simon Bisley is a great drinking buddy, and a pretty fair artist, to boot.

Simon Bisley was a very fan friendly guest of honor, and was doing free sketches for fans attending the show. He also did a great job on the playing cards and exclusive print, and donated the original art to the charity auction too, at the 2012 Las Vegas Comic Expo, and I believe there's still playing card sets available, as well as some numbered 11" x 17" lithograph prints for sale too!

Here's what it looked like: http://www.lasvegascomicexpo.com/exclusives/2012-show-exclusives/simon-bisley-print/

The 2012 show had Playing Card Art Sets; Uncut Press Sheets; Lithograph Prints by Herb Trimpe, Eric Canete, Joe Benitez and Bisley; T-Shirts in various colors and sizes with designs by Stephane Roux as well as Mark Brooks; Variant Cover Exclusive Comic Books for Zenescope, Lady Death, and an ultra rare J. Scott Campbell "Blindside" cover; and the Blank Sketch Cover Program Guide that fans could get sketches on at the show.

Here's a link to how that J. Scott Campbell cover for "Blindside" looked... http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/blindside-las-vegas-comic-expo-vip-401030820

I'm sure the 2013 Las Vegas Comic Expo will feature exclusives galore!

From what I understand, the organizer Charles, is working on a diverse line-up to include celebrity media guests from movies/television of comic book / sci-fi pop culture interest, as well as more artists (last year he had over 50!), writers and guests... to be announced as they're officially signed on board for his show.

Last year, a number of special guests were added less than a month before the show's date, including Battlestar Galactica's Trisha Helfer... so just click on their website for updates or get connected with their social media via Facebook, Twitter, etc. to subscribe to the updates.

He put together the inaugural Las Vegas Comic Expo last year 2012 to the delight of both fans and exhibitors in attendance, breaking the perceived curse and stigma of Las Vegas as a host city for a comic convention a decade ago by another promoter of the not so well received convention of 2003 in Mandalay Bay.

I volunteered and pitched a helping hand for the LVCE 2012, so witnessed the labor of love and passion put forth in making that show come together as a 1st year venture. It was supported by the local Las Vegas retailers and well attended by both local fans and out of towners alike.

It's a perfect time of year, when the kids are back in school, the Summer heat has cooled down a bit, and the NFL Football Season (and NCAA) kicking off, with the Sports Book ready for those parlay and bets, as well as most of the social merriment Vegas is known for, be it family friendly fine dining and shows or indulging in some of the seven deadly sins.

The 2013 show is scheduled to include the entertaining experiences attendees have come to expect from a comic book convention... with insightful panel discussions, gaming, costume cosplay, creator signings and commission sketching (a great opportunity to get those prized custom blank comic book sketch covers drawn on by your favorite artists and discovering new talent too), and of course comic book dealers.

There will also be exclusives, including variant comic book covers debuting at the show, merchandise, a live art auction for collectors to get on the ground floor with opportunities to purchase original art, and other surprises only available at the Las Vegas Comic Expo.

I had a blast last year and the convention they had at SouthPoint was exciting. There is a big desire for comic collectors in Vegas to go to these conventions. I love the vibe of the conventions in Vegas. The merchants and participants are laid back and very enthused about these shows.
