For the time being I will be confining myself to Comic Magazines and keeping away from debates. I do have a question for our Comic Mag people.

 

In between forced labor shifts while in Stalag 17 I picked up a copy of FM #15 on eBay. At first look the mag appears to be a 9.0 or higher with lustrous, glossy covers; flat without a hint of spine roll, etc. However, what I thought was an inch or two split on the bottom of the spine turned out to go all the way up to the bottom of the top staple.

I'm not complaining, since the seller offered a full refund upon return of the mag or $40 off the price of $76 (including shipping). I opted to keep the mag for $36.

Below are some pics. As you can see, it displays very well and you can't see the spine split. Even if you pick up the magazine you can't tell the spine is split unless you physicall lift the front cover away from the body. It just sits there.

 

My question is this - WHAT GRADE WOULD YOU GIVE A MAGAZINE IN THIS CONDITION??? On the one hand, it is in super condition. On the other hand, the spine has a major split. PLEASE, CHECK OUT THE PHOTOS BELOW AND GIVE ME AN OPINION.

Guys, I am NOT fishing for a high grade. I honestly want to know how to grade something like this. Thanks in advance for any input! - Mike

 

P.S. On a full back board in a Mylite2 bag the magazine looks like it should be hung in the Louvre in Paris! That spine split is a real heartbreaker!

Just stick to here Batko, it's not worth arguing in a forum, it's not as if you can stick one on the person you are arguing with.

As for the book, I was going to say 7-7.5 until I saw the split, OUCH! that is a bummer.
