Fantastic Four #1 - # 600 My run is done!

112 posts in this topic

As of today, May 10th, my Fantastic Four run #1 - #600 is 100% complete. It seems like this was just about a life long process since I collected comics as a kid.

Most of the issues from #6 - #300 were probably accumulated from the mid seventies on up. I picked up stuff here and there, and would fall in and out of collecting from time to time, hoping someday I would have them all.

Well, its finally done, and if not for me finding these boards, I would have never met the people and made the contacts I have to complete this run.

I feel like posting some pics of this mess, and give some credit where credit is do to some people who were significant in me completing my run.

First, lets look at some short boxes.. All of them are in full - backs with Mylite 2's, all provided by Hot Flips. I won't use any other product for my books, period.

How about some group shots. Then we're going to go through the bottom five that were all purchased within the last two years.

I actually had a few books in the later numbers arrive today. I did a recheck last week and found a few issues had slipped my me.

Other than those issues, the #1.

The first person I want to credit is Dennis from Fantasy Comics in New York. When you order off his site you're going to get what you paid for.

If you order 20 NM books, you'll get twenty NM books. No sliders or a few that are bent to fudge. I filled in a lot of the upper numbers from them. Every book was as described, and most were 9.4 or better.

I filled in a lot of the higher numbers over the last few years from them as they became available. Shipping is quick, and he also answers the phone. :golfclap:

O.K. now for the bottom five.

First up is issue number #5. First appearance of Dr. Doom. I got this book off of board member Gator. :acclaim: He was easy to deal with and gave me some time to make payments. I had never done business with him before but he accomadated me until it was paid for. Thank you sir.

Up next is #4. I actually lucked out a bit getting this book. It was purchased at Wizard in 2011. I had just walked into the con and hit Greg Reece's booth and inquired about a number four. He said he did not have one.

I thought I would do a quick search around the con but there was nothing in the price range and grade I could bear. About 45 minutes had passed and I went back to Greg's booth and there was this F.F. #4 on his wall.

I asked him "where did this come from"? He said he just bought a collection a few minutes ago and the #4 was in there.

After some tough negotiations ( about 1 minute ) the deal was done. I also hit him up for some nice Black Cat's he had hiding under a table. So thanks is in order to Greg Reece.

I can feel the tension building. lol

Next up is issue #3. This one was purchased from Gary ( Gaz973 ). This was the first time I had done business with him and everything went like clock work. Flaming Telepath I believe had this book at his shop and helped out with the deal also. Gary packed the book well and it arrived in about 10 days from overseas. I love it.
