Strange Tales 28 Appreciation Thread

98 posts in this topic

All right I love the CSS 22 appreciation thread (big congrats) to all who have participated in that thread and posted their CSS 22 in whatever grade.

They are all awesome to look at.

I wanted to do the same thing for my own personal favorite horror cover - Strange Tales 28.

I am sure there are some other fans out there, maybe not as many as CSS 22, but there have to be a few.

My opinion has always been that ST 28 is very, very, very scarce and impossible in high grade...maybe this thread will tell us just how scarce.

Anyway, thanks for participating and posting if you have a copy.

Johnny

I'm not a hoarder, just an enthusiast.

I met a person last year at a major con who did tell me he has 7 copies !!!

Not a difficult issue to find, IMO, just not in high grade.

Never seen any from some of the Top pre-code horror pedigree collections (Spokane, River City, Northford or Bethlehem).

You're the man RICK!

Thanks for posting these.

Some really good ones here, some of the best I have seen anywhere.

Are you sure the horror pedigrees had one in their collection?

Im guessing not otherwise they would have been slabbed...right?

Could they all have lacked this issue?

Did the guy you met say whether he had any pedigree copies?

Thanks again Rick.

I was shown a picture of a CGC 8.0 copy, not a pedigree, by this guy.

I just don't known if those collections had this issue in them. I have not seen any for sale.

8.0 is the highest graded only 3 others graded much lower 4.0-5.0.

The 8.0 has to be a stunner...

I know several pre-code enthusiasts who prefer to keep their books in mylar. Just because a book isn't listed in the CGC Census doesn't mean it doesn't exist. :preach:

Curious, what is the reasoning. Seems like there is a much higher likelihood for inadvertent damage if left un-slabbed.
