Superman 208-- storyline looking up

2 posts in this topic

Hadn't seen any commentary on this and the previous thread was a couple of months old, so thought this merits a mention:

I was favorably impressed with #208-- partly because we got a chance to see the Jim Lee JLA, but also the storyline is finally picking up. Clearly now, Azz has Superman in a quasi G. W. Bush role, reacting to The Vanishing as a surrogate for 9/11 by intervening in the (unnamed?) Middle Eastern country. And the other members of the JLA in this issue explicitly take the place of the UN in the scenario.

Since Azz has the DC icons taking different sides of his issue, he'll not be doing a hatchet job on either the Right or Left point of view. Putting Supes in the USA role (big, powerful, albeit un-subtle) means we'll no doubt get a sympathetic portrayal, but all indications are things won't turn out all hunky-dory in the end. I'm interested again in where Azz will be taking us. thumbsup2.gif
