ORIGINAL PRELIMINARY PENCIL TISSUE FOR MAD MAGAZINE PAINTING OF ALFRED E. NEUMAN.

Mingo, Norman.

New York: mid-1970s.

Pencil on heavy weight tracing paper, image approximately 10 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches, 14 x 9 inches overall. Original Mad Magazine Drawing. Small crease at lower right margin not affecting image, else fine, mounted in archival mat.

Drawing by Mad artist Mingo, showing Alfred E. Neuman in later life, his aging image bearing an intentional resemblance to the then-current NYC Mayor, Abe Beame. Done as a preliminary to a subsequent painting.
