Experiment - Play Along

88 posts in this topic

I bought 60 books from a very reputable dealer, one of largest on internet, all graded NM.

They are all from 1975-1989.

All were submitted for grading with a 9.8 threshold for slabbing.

Note: I did not review before submitting, I just fired away because I thought it would be an interesting experiment.

How many will come back as 9.8's? Give a # or percentage.

Half have been graded and sent back, I am waiting on the other half.

At the end of the experiment I will give the tally. Should be a week or so.

NM = 9.4 not 9.8 so none might come back 9.8 and the unnamed dealer didn't grade anything wrong. :baiting:

If they all came back 9.0-9.4 you'll be lucky. :baiting:

But since you want me to play along I'll throw a guess out there:

3

It would have been nice to know if you had them pressed or not though.

If the figure is high enough I will give dealer's name as a plug. I wonder what percentage the board considers good, I would assume anything over the mean of the guesses

I'm going with zero.

Am I correct that pre-screening these will run you $300 or more?

lol

I was gonna go with zero but I figure with all the 80s comics there might be a few so I went with 3.

Hey Johnny I noticed you live in the O.C. I do too! Maybe we can hang out check out some books. (thumbs u

Cool - do you frequent any local comic shops? I am having trouble finding one...let me know what you like.

Also, heading to SD CC in July.

Depends on how many pass, but yeah could be that much. I expect to break even on the experiment...but could be underwater a bit if the number is real low.
