Surprise no one has mention TWD. The Governor arc (27-48) was epic! When he said, (1) "well we feed 'em strangers, stranger" and (2) when he dropped the blade on Rick's hand and (3) the Michonne revenge issue and (4) the "death" issue.... Just amazing reading.

YTLM was great. A little dry in the middle but the last ten issue really hit home.

First Sandman trade is amazing.

Mind MGMT is in a league of its own IMHO.

Rachel rising is also very good.

I could talk about some older stuff, but it would be more than ten years ago. Honorable mention from me though is the Infinity Gauntlet series from the 90's. Still read it often (and the other related series).

The Michonne revenge issue was actually the issue that stopped me reading TWD though it was a long time coming. Terrible, lazy, torture-porn writing.

Ellis all the way Yo! Most of his stuff is well written, dense, fast paced, lots of action and lots of funny. And you can probably find a lot of his stuff cheap at LCS sales or at cons.

#1 Desolation Jones is awesome! I really hope the second arc gets finished but it probably won't.

A lot of peeps always mention Stormwatch, Authority, Transmetropolitan and Planetary. I dug em all except Transmet is one of his few I've only read very little of. Pretty much read everything else he's done.

#2 Gravel is really good. If you liked Desolation Jones or Fell you will probably like Gravel. I thought Gravel was way better than all the Strange books that came before it and of which you don't need to read first. Gravel definitely has that detective vibe to it as Gravel has to track down all the pieces of some manuscript from some very interesting characters. Some of which he gets along with some not so much. I think there are 3 trades. The first one collects 0-5 or 6 maybe.

#3 Ocean. Just reread it a few months ago. Really cool funny main character. Copy and pasted from Amazon.

Lying beneath Europa's (Jupiter's moon) half-mile-thick mantle of shear ice is the only ocean in the solar system besides those on Earth. And within those cold waters could rest the key to life on Earth — and quite possibly its extinction!

It's the job of U.N. weapons inspector Nathan Kane to learn what sort of beings lie under the icy dome. But he's about to encounter resistance of the violent kind from the staff manning Earth's outpost on Europa -- and he'll like what happens even less when the long-slumbering aliens begin to awaken !

#4 Doktor Sleepless duh #5 Fell duh or see Amazon

If you want more mainstream characters like Marvel stuff go with

#6 Thunderbolts done in 2 trades. 6 issues each trade. Great stuff.

#7 The Invincible Iron Man Extremis duh. In one trade it's 6 issues.

#8 Ultimate Iron Man in Ultimate Armor Wars. In one trade it's 4 issues.

#9 Ultimate Human. Which is Ultimate Iron Man vs Ultimate Hulk. In one trade it's 4 issues. Ellis can write the out of Iron Man.

#132 Not Ellis is Nowhere Men duh. #145 is Mind MGMT. I finally got the first issue one dollar edition and I'm only half way through it but can tell I will have to get the hardcovers or trades eventually. Really good stuff. Alright I'll stop.

[*]Daredevil - Brubaker's run (although I really enjoyed Bendis' run as well)

I really liked this - even more than the Bendis run, and Michael Lark's art was excellent. I just couldn't remember a specific arc that stood out from the run, but apparently many here are considering a writer's run on a title as the same thing as a story arc. I guess this is a case of the whole run feeling like a single arc, even if it was technically broken up.

The only complaint I have is that I didn't care for the set-up with DD being asked to take over The Hand that Brubaker left for Andy Diggle. It seemed unrealistic in the context of the gritty realism he'd given to the title before.

I was definitely not a fan of the 1st Transmet arc. But it gets amazing after that. Ellis is one of the all-time greats. Fell is so right that's wrong.

Ellis is great cause he usually hooks ya in the first 3 or 4 pages. I thought Transmet started off slow too and a lot of the crazy zaniness seemed too forced. I did read issue #9 I think it was where that girl gets sick or I can't remember exactly maybe she freezes herself and is cured in the future maybe? I should reread that one. Heh.

Even after what he did to her? I thought the character needed to have a payoff like that. One of the few times a cover has delivered on exactly what I thought it was going to deliver on.

Especially after what he did to her. Kirkman brings in a real big issue and responds to it with torture porn. Lazy. Just my opinion though :)

I'll jump in. Just a warning it's mostly DC:

YTLM 1-60

TWD 1-48

Identity Crisis

Blackest Night

Waid's Daredevil run

All Star Supes (how has this not come up?)

All Star Supes was great.

Preacher

Anything Punisher by Garth Ennis

Severed

Barry Ween (really funny)

100 Bullets

Batman: Broken City

3 Story

Watchmen

Sixth Gun

The Killer (cool French Comic)
