BREAKING NEWS!! Pedigree Comics' CEO and President, Doug Schmell, has brokered a deal for the sale of a CGC certified copy of X-Men #1 in 9.6 for a record price of $250,000. Featuring the origin and first appearance of the X-Men as well as the introductions of Professor X and Magneto, X-Men #1 is one of the most popular and valuable early Silver Age keys, ranked as #7 according to the most recent Overstreet Price Guide listing.

Cover dated September, 1963 (the same month as the Avengers’ initial appearance in Avengers #1), X-Men #1 has been one of the hottest books on the market recently, with record sales in high grade being recorded over the past couple of years. Pedigree Comics sold a 9.4 copy with white pages in October, 2011 for a record price of $137,500 and Mr. Schmell’s personal copy, the 9.8 Pacific Coast example, fetched $492,938 at auction in July, 2012. This same 9.6 copy is one of only two in certified NM+ grade and sold for a then record price of $200,000 in March, 2011.

The book, from the Mound City Collection founded in 2009, is characterized by unbelievable color strike, exact centering, tight staples, razor sharp edges and corners, off-white to white pages and a remarkably white cover. It is tied as the third best existing copy behind only two in 9.8 (from the Pacific Coast Collection and the Curator Collection). In fact, the only other existing 9.6 similarly comes from the Pacific Coast pedigree. That copy sold for $100,000 almost 9 years ago, in December, 2004, also by Pedigree Comics!

If you have any comic books to sell or consign, do yourself a favor and contact Pedigree Comics or check out their website at www.PedigreeComics.com. If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, concerns, etc. about how to get the most amount of $$ for your treasured books, either by sale or consignment, please contact Pedigree's CEO and President, Doug Schmell, at (561) 422-1120 or (561) 596-9111 or by email at DougSchmell@pedigreecomics.com. Pedigree Comics has been involved in the sales of more high grade CGC graded Silver Age Marvel keys, either by purchase, brokerage or consignment, than any other dealer and keeps all calls and information confidential for your protection.

Consignors maximize their profits selling in Pedigree Comics' Grand Auctions, more so than on any other auction site or auction house. They do not charge a Buyers Premium, an amount that most bidders take into consideration when bidding in other sites (the bidders simply deduct that Buyers Premium amount from their final bidding price, meaning less $$ to the consignor and more to the auction site). The higher the value of your book(s) that sell in a Grand Auction, the more $$ you take home under Pedigree Comics’ Climbing Scale. They consistently set new sales records for Silver and Bronze Age comics in each Grand Auction and on their regular site inventory. Grand Auctions are unique and exciting, with new and diversified, top-rated CGC material in each event. Why settle for less by consigning with someone else?

Prospective consignors can also upload their own scans, item information, descriptions and reserve amounts for the upcoming August Grand Auction (slated to begin on Sunday, August 25th) by utilizing the Automated Consignment System. It is actually very easy and fun to do. Just register onto the site, click "Customer Page" under "Your Account" and then click "Consignments" (under "Auctions"). You will then be able to enter the Pedigree Comics Consignment Management System and upload your own CGC certified books and magazines. They will receive an email notification automatically once you have uploaded the information and they will then review the information imparted for accuracy. The item(s) will then be added to the August Grand Auction to be bid on. You will be amazed how simple it is to utilize the Automated Consignment System.
