Frank Darabont & the cast of The Walking Dead

39 posts in this topic

Stephen King's the mist was on television tonight, and while its not the greatest movie of all time I still enjoy it for what it is.

Plus it brought up something interesting. Mr Darabont directed it, and a portion of the cast also appear in TWD.

Andrea - Laurie Holden

Dale - Jeffrey DeMunn

And in the last minutes a cameo by

Carol - Melissa Suzanne McBride

How often do directors stick with cast members?

Kevin Smith movies don't count.

It happens ALL the time. It makes sense, the directors/actors build working relationships and want to continue to work together.

Sometimes it's for main roles, sometimes it's cameo appearances for their friends.

Here are 2 examples in theaters right now:

- Guillermo del Toro put Ron Perlman in Pacific Rim.

- James Wan cast Patrick Wilson as a lead in The Conjuring. (Wilson was the lead in James Wan's last movie Insidious as well.)

Joss Whedon does this, too. . .

Nathan Fillion (Buffy, Firefly, Dr. Horrible)

Eliza Dushku (Buffy, Dollhouse)

Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Dollhouse)

Summer Glau (Firefly, Dollhouse)

Amy Acker (Buffy, Dollhouse)

Fran Kranz (Dollhouse, Cabin in the Woods)

Jonathan M. Woodward (several)

I'm sure there are more.

Really? Nobody has mentioned Christopher Nolan yet?

He's an interesting one, once Interstellar comes out his love affair with Michael Caine will be official.

George Lucas used Carrie Fisher Harrison Ford and Mark Hamil in SW Ep 4, 5 & 6 but seriously I do need to see the Mist remake. I hear it's good except the ending.

George Lucas also used Harrison Ford in American Graffiti.

Maybe it just seemed interesting that actors went from a film to television

Maybe I had a few adult beverages lol

Ron Howard always puts hit brother Clint Howard in his movies

Sam Raimi also puts his brother as well as Bruce Campbell in his movies.

Well, DeMunn was in another Stephen King miniseries, as well. I've been trying to think where I had seen him before for months, and thanks to this thread, I realized it was "Storm of the Century."
