The Copper 200: The Most Important Independent Comics (1984-1992)

177 posts in this topic

Let's get this party started. Below is a start to a top 200 list of the most important Copper Age independent comics. Offer your suggestions and we'll keep building the list. We can trim it down later, if necessary.

For the most part, I didn't bother with printings even though I know that second and third printings are valuable for some. I figured I'd just keep it nice and clean for now. Let me know if you think that's the wrong way to go.

I've also limited the number of consecutive issues. No reason why, really, just thinking that some of these series could have 15 straight issues on the list. Again, if it's something I should put in here, let me know.

I've been ignoring the other lists mainly because it's Marvel and DC .. boring :) .. but Copper Independents I actually have opinions on lol Quick question .. what are the determining factors?

I ask because would something like Unity 0 or Shadowhawk 1 really be of higher importance than Starslayer 2 or Justice Machine Annual 1?

Thanks, Reno!

Thanks, Reno!

At this point, there are no requirements. There are just so damn many of these things, I wanted to get everyone's thoughts and go from there.

I tried to add things like Shadowhawk and Unity just because those were important at the time and helped changed comics in some way. I'm not suggesting that they're more important now, just that they were important in some way.

With this list, I'm just trying to get as many of the key books together so we can start honing in on the true top 100 or 200.

But I get what you are going for now.
