Scanning old comics

Just wondering if the harsh light used in scanning would deteriorate old valuable comics - 1960's and below?

 

Or am I being too paranoid?

 

Personally I think the harsh light from scanners target old valuable comics with extreme prejudice while leaving old valueless comics alone. :insane:

 

Seriously though, like X-Rays, if you scan them all day you might have a problem. Once is ok ;)
