There looks to be a mark of some kind at the same place on both front and back. Is that a tear that runs through the whole book?

It's a slight tear front and back yes, doesn't affect the pages inside

I'd say 5.0

It could be as low as 4.5 if the top staple is loose. I really don't see it being as high as or higher than 5.5 with the surface wear.

The top staple is attached firmly, the book is nice and flat and presents rather well, but I hear you in the surface wear

A dry clean and press may help a bit if the paper is supple enough, but I imagine shipping to anyone that provides such service would not be very cost effective. Not for this book, anyway.

Nope, it would be far more than I paid for it, I just enjoy having it

(One day my kids may pay for that!)
