Question about X-men

ok...I don't read much about the X-men, BUT I do know that Wolverine and Cyclops has separated and built there own teams. I've also know that Cyclops, Emma, Colossus, Magik and Namor all became the Phoenix Five, during AvX, and were defeated. I've also know that all five are having power problems (due to the Phoenix) BUT what I don't understand is why Magneto (Eric) is also experiencing power problems. He didn't became host to the Phoenix, so why is his powers going crazy as well??

 

Does anybody know??
