RFID for events?

NYCC is using RFID to mine their customers. I don't think I will register my badge but am curious what a registered badge "unlocks". Anybody want to share this info?

I hope the plan for NYCC is not to sell advanced tickets next year to those that registered-like SDCC, but I will do this if that is the case...
