Coverless books.

I have a couple books(Silver Sufer and a Green Lantern) that are missing their covers. The books themselves are in fairly good condition. Just missing the covers.

 

To protect the pages from futher degradation would more than a back board and bag be called for?

 

I still like reading them.

To protect the inner pages, you should probably put them in a Mylar and acid free backing board. Most of the bags and backing boards aren't good for comics long term.

I suggest black shoe polish (aka shinola) applied in a fine even coat to the exterior of both exposed pages
