Competing on the registry

118 posts in this topic

If for what ever reason you feel the need to compete with others in the registry the only thing I can tell you is don't start! The registry isn't really a competition, it is more of a way to keep track of what you have and what you collect.

Trying to turn it into a competition will only drain your money as you buy books you have no interest in. There is no finish line, there is no podium, there is no fan fair when you move up "positions".

If you get caught up in chasing points in the end you will only be competing against yourself, and you will never "win".

When CGC started handing out rewards they made it into a competition.

Maybe that was by design all along. hm

Check out this feature of MSC, you can look at all entries by pedigree.....

http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/Pedigrees.asp?PId=22

Convince Andy to allow uploads from photobucket. Otherwise, it would take me ten years to uplad all the I have scanned.

I am waiting for the blowback from our IT people about the 950 or so scans that I have on our server.

Counting front and back, I've got over 10,000. But I'm the IT guy, too, so no one really gets to colain.

I LIKE the DC 100 pagers... they truly were a breed apart, and deserve their own set. IMHO, of course...
Not a fan of modern registry sets.

But nothing beats inane arbitrary sets like this one -

lol Greggy was PMing me about another one of my posts so I was just trying to mess with him.
:whee: More views

That OAAW 242 still makes my loins tingle :luhv:

Here is Greggy's collection on MSC. Now tell me this does not present much better than the Registry.

What you have out there now on MSC is not exactly trivial.....

It was. If you read the article about Halperin and Coins in the Shave thread, you will see CGC followed the same -script as coins, including the crack out game and a competitive Registry.

Another feature of MySlabbedcomics that's interesting is the number of views.

If this feature is on the Registry, I don't know how to find it.

Interesting to me that the second highest viewed comic in my collection is

a 9.0 reprint......

http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/GalleryDetailSearch.asp?GCat=516&Order=Views

MSC has a fundamental flaw regarding views ( which the CGC registry does not )

If you access the site without logging in, and repeatedly hit F5 on any book, your view count will go ballistic. It is not reflective of true "views"

Make a thread. "Is view count important to you."

The sadness of anyone's life who would do that, more than makes up for the pimpin' status they'll be faking for themselves.
