What month did Marvel, DC comics get narrower?

I know it was sometime around 1974 that both Marvel and DC narrowed their books to save paper. Anyone know exactly what month it was for each?

You mean when did the silver age dimensions end and the bronze age dimensions begin?

Thanks. I was re-bagging my Brave and Bold 100 pagers and noticed that 117 was markedly narrower than 116. Was afraid it might be trimmed.

My first thought was Jan of 1975.

I'm pretty sure it's Feb 1975. Both my ASM #141 and FF #155 are from 2/75 and they're both smaller than the previous issues.

I discovered it in my teens, I thought all Marvel 25 centers were. "Modern" sized and 20 centers were wider. I was literally ramming a book into a too small bag before I had my " a-ha!" moment.

I did the same thing when I was a kid. Most of my older books were beaters anyway, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out why they barely fit. It took a few years and comics later to realize.
