The Golden Age DC Challenge

44 posts in this topic

Just for fun, if anybody feels like playing.

You have $10,000 to spend on Golden Age DC books...

You can buy as little as 1 book and as many as 20 books based on most recent GPA or reasonable estimate (if you don't have GPA).

Which book(s) do you buy? And why?

I'd like nice midgrades of Batman 12, 15 and 18 and Action 58.

All war bonds covers and would go nicely with my Action 86, Bats 30, Supes 18 and World's Finest 8.

One day. :wishluck:

At first I thought of upgrading some of my Wonder Womans or Sensations, but

Instead I would buy ...lower grade presentable copies with nice colors...of

Adventure 73 (Never owned one)

Batman 5. 18, (Never owned one)

Superman 17 (Never owned one)

Superman 14 (love the cover)

Flash 9 (Loeve the cover)

Green Lantern 26 (always loved that cover)

Or a low grade Detective 29, I've always loved that cover.Never owned one.

Or More Fun 52 and 53 (never owned either

Or maybe upgrade my Action 13 a little.

Too many choices.

Personally, I think I'd try to load up on the second tier essentials.

I'd probably go off in search of a low grade More Fun #73 to start. I used to own a coverless copy and miss it. Plus, it's a Dr. Fate cover and the first appearance of two legendary characters. Ballpark= $2500 or so?

And actually, I think a More Fun #55 would be really fun to have too. I love me some Dr. Fate! Again, used to own a coverless copy that I sorely miss. So I'd be looking for a low grade of course. Same ballpark= $2500.

So that's half my dough right there.

Another book that I've always really wanted to own is Adventure #61. Starman is very underrated.Low grade copy= $1500.

And of course, I'd have to try and score a copy of All-American #61 as well. Grundy fever. Low grade copy=probably around $1000.

Then I'd go for an All-American #25 lower grade copy= $1000.

And I've always thought Detective #73 was an amazing cover... lower grade copy= $1000.

I'd spend my last $500 on a lower grade Superman #10. Just an amazing cover and the first bald Luthor.

So there you have it. For me:

More Fun #55

More Fun #73

Adventure #61

All-American #25

All-American #61

Detective #73

Superman #10
