How does grading compare to 4-6 years ago?

I have a bronze age book at 9.8 and white pages. The artist is going to be at a local con, and I'm wondering if it's worth the risk to crack it and submit for SS or not knowing that it will be re-graded, and if grading is more 'strict' now possibly have the book grade drop.

I probably wouldn't worry about strictness of grading if I were you.

If the signature is what matters, just find a raw high-grade copy and get that signed. If it comes back a 9.6, who cares? You have a SS series with your fave artist, and you have your Universal 9.8.
