Please someone quickly explain an "artist alley"

 

To me it would be a whole bunch of artists at booths with the chance of getting sketches done, meeting them etc.

If you walk down artists alley, you may not "blow" a lot of money, but chances are you will surely spend a lot of money.

Artist Alley is always my favorite section of any comic con. The best part is when you develop a relationship with an artist or 3 and are able to hang out on their side of the tables, BS and get drunk with them for hours, all while watching them do their magic. I haven't been to a con in 10 years now but those were some great times!
