cycle of a typical boardie:

1) join forum, excited to discuss comics with passionate collectors and buy/sell books at a good value

2) lurk for an undetermined amount of time and build up courage to make first post, likely seeking an answer to a question you came by honestly

4) become aggressively harassed by "more experienced but insufficiently thoughtful members" for doing anything that others have done before...respond with anger, shame, confusion or some combination of the three

5) buy first book at what you believe is a good value (in reality get taken by "experienced" boardie who you thought was a "friend")

6) proceed to increasingly argue with "experienced" boardies, most of whom respond to any rational argument with arrogance, condescension and a general lack of caring

7) buy second book at a slightly better deal (in reality you still over-pay as someone who has GPA informs you as such, figure out "friends" are hard to come by on here)

8) subscribe to GPA, declare yourself an expert

9) make several posts citing personal experience as the main reason you have the correct point of view (favorite tactic of many boardies)

10) be further chastised by other "experienced" boardies for proceeding to challenge an opinion of someone who "has given a lot to the community" (but in general is not a very nice person at the moment)

11) get bored with discussing and/or reading about comics and venture further into the depths of the CG or even worse, the Cooler…

12) proceed to become extremely jaded and learn (by observing) to hate anyone who has joined the site after you

13) begin to snipe post snide remarks about small forum rule infractions and wallow in your own self worth

14) devolve into full-on hazing of "newbs" or "noobs" to ensure the cycle of cynicism continues in the spirit of American traditions

15) start trolling

I found this copy of Hulk 181 (is that really the first appearance or is 180?) in my great grandpappys attic and I was wondering if I should get it pressed and submitted to PGX or CGC?

No 3? (shrug)

#3 was buy from any "too good to be true" one-post boardie thread, cite mantra about acceptable risks, and then complain about not getting book.

I think it was

"3) start multiple threads and demand to know why no one is answering any of your questions while simultaneously criticizing the board culture you've been a part of for 6 hours, disregarding the fact that respect is a two-way street and a person's status in any social situation, on or off the internet, is something that is earned over time, as opposed to something everyone is entitled to simply for existing"
