I think Depp would be pretty awesome but he would probably make Dr. Strange a little more eclectic or goofy than perhaps he is in the books. I like most of his work though.

. Could Depp Play a sorcerer, sure. Could he play Strange? Not unless they changed the character some.

 

That being said, imagine how much money this film would make if they could get Depp into the role.

He only really does goofy characters when he teams up with Tim Burton, although films that are goofy themselves like "Pirates of the Caribbean" or "Don Juan DeMarco" are exceptions. I can't recall him acting goofy in most of the dramas I've seen him in.

I wanted a younger Strange HOWEVER in comics continuity I believe Dr. Strange pre-dates even the Fantastic Four. In other words during the events of FF1 Dr. Strange was already active for a number of years even though he appeared for the first time after the FF.

 

So I've contradicted myself and you can ignore this post.
