New Ebay Buyer Problem - What would you do?

185 posts in this topic

i sure wouldn't do business with a guy like that. using 'person_having_a_hard_time_understanding_my_point' as a pejorative-I guess he thinks all those special ed kids are worthy of contempt and derision.

I just want to reiterate that what I really wanted was to get a conversation started about what "NM" means to people.

On eBay, it has two definitions:

1) as a buyer, it means 9.8

2) as a seller, it means 6.0-9.2

(:

that's why i had to block Slym after the Action #1 fiasco.

YOU ACCEPTED MY $6 COUNTER-OFFER!!!

:rulez::sumo::ohnoez:

as i explained in our lengthy back-and-forth on ebay, my kitten jumped up on the keyboard and hit the 'accept' button. you are well aware that action #1 in 8.0 is worth more than six bucks. of course i had to send it cause a deal's a deal.

It wasn't my idea of a 6.0, it was 5.5 at best, so I had to open a PayPal dispute.

ps to OP: dude seems like the type to leave neg FB-might want to just post 'google cgc new ebay buyer problem' for details....

that way at least your neg FB will serve as an advertisement on ebay for sellers to block him....

I definitely expect the negative feedback.

I doubt I will be selling on ebay anymore after this experience anyway.

I've got a complete run of the new IDW TMNT series with 8 of the issues signed and remarked by Eastman that I'll be selling on the boards now!

no way-you can have a great experience on ebay-just make sure to show pics next time and describe carefully. I wouldnt let this one guy drive you out of ebay-I make thousands there....

Hulk Smash, I sincerely apologize for taking the mcs pic.

I genuinely didn't realize that's what it was until after I had sold both books.

I think there are a lot bigger issues than that.

I don't care that it was a mcs pic, or anybody else's. You brought this situation on yourself, by not waiting to submit a proper listing for sale. If you had waited until you had the time to submit a proper listing with your own scans/photos, then the buyer would have had the opportunity to view your comic and to pass on your listing, if he saw something he didn't agree with. As it was, the buyer jumped on your listing, before he could lose out to another buyer. Now he gets the books and doesn't agree with the grade. Now you start a thread complaining about buyer, when this whole situation could have been avoided if you didn't rush a half-azz listing in the first place. You took a chance and it didn't turn out how you wanted it. The buck stops with you.

Sorry, I go the other way on this. The buyer hit the BIN on a listing that did not have a scan. If a scan was necessary he needed to ask, wait, or ignore the listing. Listing badly hurts no one but the seller, there's no problem until someone else hits the button. He hit the button on a $200 listing that has a picture of the TPB for goodness sake!

There are many situations where I would agree with you, but on this one - such an obviously bad listing for a $200+ item...I don't see it.

FYI, I've agreed to send back the book and I'll never buy a comic book from ebay again. For the record I never asked for a partial refund or a full refund at all. I make 75k a year, a $200 comic isn't going to make me lose sleep. I messaged him initially because I wasn't happy that its not in a condition the way he described it. I was going to give it as a gift for my brother but I guess I'll try to find a better one at Toronto Fan Expo in August. Lesson learned, not to buy comics on ebay. Thank you for that valuable lesson.

So, I sold a copy of Preacher #1 on Ebay a couple weeks ago. The book was a SOLID 9.4 and I sold the book as NM.

The buyer only has 5 feedback, so a new buyer. I get a message saying that the book had a small spine tick on it and that he was not happy.

Is NM not a 9.4 anymore?

I send a message back explaining that when I sell as NM, that I don't mean 9.8. If I meant 9.8, I would say NM+. Right?

I said that I would be willing to refund the money as long as he sent the book back and that I would not be giving a partial refund, because I've done nothing wrong.

I get another message today saying he's not stupid enough to send the book back and hope that he gets a refund and then says he'll let PayPal handle it.

So my questions...can you not sell a 9.4 on Ebay as NM anymore because people expect 9.8s?

And also, what's my best course of action here. I sold a book as the right grade, shipped it and even offered a refund.

Thanks for any advice.

I can't believe you're the one crying after trying to rip me off. You didn't even bother posting a picture of your item when you sold it on ebay because you knew what you were selling is not exactly what you described. I still have the Preacher book in the USPS box that you sent I've left it untouched because I was so looking forward to finally owning this book and upon opening it realised that what I got I could find for a lot less at my local store. You keep spreading your lies because you know Paypal will side with me.

So is it for you or your brother? :eyeroll:

tewdri and lance I hope you guys can part amicably no neg FB and return each other's stuff and just chalk it up to lesson learned. dont post stock pics and dont buy stock pic listings. never using ebay again because of some unfortunate choices on both sides seems a bit extreme. i have bought and sold thousands of comics on ebay and am 100% satisfied with my experience. It's like a guy goes for a walk and happens to get mugged so he says he's never going outside again.

So now we're splitting hairs? I was looking forward to owning it yeah, but I didn't say I was going to keep it. Wow, it's mind boggling how vicious you people are. I'm sending it back end of, peace out.

Is it splitting hairs if you get caught in a lie? hm
