I've always been a Sal fan. Even his later stuff on The Spectacular Spider-Man. It was a little messy or scribbly, but always dynamic and full of action. The only thing I ever had a problem with was his Hulk work, and that was only because he drew the eyes so small they could barely be seen. But that's no big deal. It was still great work.

I have always loved the Sal & Joe team, particularly on the Hulk. They were just fantastic together.

 

I can remember being at a John Buscema panel in San Diego one year, & he said that he loved drawing Conan more than anything else he ever did. And I think you can see that reflected in his work.

 

I also enjoyed the heck out of John's Avengers run from about 255-300, inked by Tom Palmer.

Not sure if you excluding Sal's work on Thor with Simonson writing but I thought that it was fantastic. All I know is that he has worked on a lot of issues I really enjoyed when I was a kid and he drew the best Hulk, as angry badass.
