Chase the Rabbit

Rabbits keep going down the hole, getting faster and harder to catch and keep.

I've bought and sold many SA key marvels and have sold many well below the current market as they weren't quite nice enough to be my keeper, or I just didn't have a passion for the book at the time.

A few examples

Strange Tales 101 3.0 sold, 4.0 sold... 5.5 keeper for now

Strange tales 110 1.8 sold 4.0 sold 5.5 sold....2.0 keeper for now

The question is, what's the book that you'd get or upgrade first in today's market and what grade/price point would you target.

I'm thinking of backfilling the holes in my silver age keys that I've created with money from sales and I'm not sure what I want first.

Of course it's hard when I keep buying pre hero marvels and GA GGA...

Thanks for your suggestions and opinions.

Yeah, I buy and try and upgrade as much as I can, I just cant bring myself to sell my undercopy.

I dont think that you can go wrong with any of those but what about the DCs

Action 252

Adventure 247

B&B 28

Showcase Flash's

etc

I couldn't begin to advise you,once I obtain a book I don't sell.

Same here. If a book is good enough for me to buy (which doesn't take much, either), I stop looking for it.

I totally get it. Ive had several books that I've bought and sold thinking I'd upgrade someday. Two of which I regret because I never again owned copies as good or copies at all.

FF1 3.0 I own a .5 now

ASM 1 4.0 I never owned another copy.

Others I've fared better.

X-men 1 2.0(SA) 4.0 keeper

TTA 27 3.0 1.8 keeper

JIM 83 1.8, 3.0 5.0 Keeper

On and on and on. I guess long story short, I'd look to upgrade my FF1 now. Seems like now is a decent time.

I have enough trouble keeping track of what I have and what I don't, I'd go crazy trying to keep up with what I wanted to upgrade.

But I shouldn't speak ill of the behavior, I'd imagine a sizable percentage of my collection is made up of "undercopies" that someone has upgraded and gave me a good deal. (thumbs u

DC's are ok. I never sell my copies as I'm not actively looking for better.

Marvels are generally easier but I have let a few go I definitely regret.

I'm wanting a nice JIM 85, Hulk 2-6, and Avengers 1

Help a brother out or convince me otherwise.

I agree an FF1 upgrade might be a good idea ...

Of course it's hard when I keep buying pre hero marvels

That is the main reason I can never seem to get any real momentum up for purchasing any keys I'm after.

In the last year I've done quite well though:

X-Men #1 that I bought in a collection that came back CGC 4.0

Avengers #4 CGC 3.0 bought on the boards

Avengers #1 CGC 2.5

Incredible Hulk #1 CGC 3.5

And some pre-hero gems that I couldn't let get away, most notably a TOS #2 in CGC 6.0 that was my first major purchase of the year. That book was a huge nemesis for me. After the Hulk #1 I've got to lay low for a while though, hopefully I'll have a budget scraped back together for WW Chicago.
