ASM #122 VG-

58.00 :news: SOLD via PM.

--Book is complete.

--Staples (rust-free) secure at cover & centerfold.

--Pgs. CRM/OW or OW.

--White along spine: 1/8" at top, descending to 1/4" at bottom.

--Front cover: upper right corner & lower right corner creasing.

--Front cover & back cover insides: light tanning @ edges.

--Back cover: lower left corner and lower right corner bends.

--Back cover: upper left corner stain...1/2" diagonal area...also goes to inside cover. The same stain is light but present on the final page of the book (upper right corner of the page). Also, a few back cover stains, small ones, below the above-mentioned one; these do NOT go through to the inside back cover.

All in all, a low-grade ASM key that won't break the bank.

ASM #122 VG/VG+

89.00 :news: SOLD.

--Book is complete.

--Staples (rust-free) and secure at cover & centerfold.

--White on spine: between 1/8 and 1/4" @ top, descending to 1/8" @ bottom.

--Back cover smudge near spine, small, about 3/4".

--The main flaw is a sub crease, non-color breaking.

--Good cover gloss.

--Inside covers: white; pgs. are nice too, OWW.

This book is MUCH nicer than the previously listed VG-. The sub crease brings it down, but its eye appeal is outstanding for a mid-grade book. Take away the sub creasing and it's probably a VF to VF+ cover.

--Nice inside covers; pgs. OW.

--Just general wear along spine and at corners.

Marvel Spotlight #32 VF / VF+

21.00 :news: SOLD.

This book is a tough one to grade. Bought as a NM- and the front cover is definitely in the VF/NM to NM- range.

--Book is complete.

--Well-centered.

--Inside covers white; pgs. are OWW.

--Staples (rust-free) secure @ cover & centerfold.

What brings it down? Back cover: at the top edge and along spine there's some VERY light foxing/spotting (tiny dots). It's there, though, and brings down an otherwise super sharp copy. Corners are sharp. It's a sweet copy to start with if you don't have the debut of Spider-Woman.

X-Men #97 FN+ / FN-VF

15.00 :news: SOLD.

--Book is complete.

--staples (rust-free) secure @ cover & centerfold.

--inside covers: white; pgs. OWW; book is nice and supple.

--tiny bit of white on spine until you get midway down book, then slightly increasing until there's 1/8" at the bottom.

--upper left corner & lower left corner dingage; other corners sharp.

Nice early copy of the then-new (but always popular) X-Men...at a pretty good price.

Nova #1 FN/VF

13.00 :news: SOLD.

--Book is complete.

--Well-centered.

--Great colors; razor SHARP corners.

--Inside covers: white; OW pgs.

--Here are the issues: rust on top staple but with NO migration @ centerfold; bottom staple has rust too and there is migration @ centerfold on the top tip of the staple. The bottom tip of the staple looks to not have made it through the pg. in production. In other words, I don't believe it became detached.

This book, with obvious issues, is VERY frustrating though. I mean, it is absolutely a smoking book, but for the staples issue. :pullhair::cry::pullhair: So, get a Nova #1 on the cheap at Guide.

Marvel Tales #1 (1964) VG++

58.00 :news: SOLD.

--Book is complete.

--No issues with the staples.

--Inside covers & pgs. are pretty nice for the grade, CRM/OW to OW.

--front cover/lower right corner: tiny chip missing.

--Some waviness along spine area and about 1" outward; this might be the nature of the annual cover stock. It could be moisture damage, but the inside pgs. aren't affected.

--The biggest issue is this: along the edge of the spine you see some dark areas and then, along what would've been the white of the block spine, it's a bit dingey, almost like a light charcoal or grey. You can still easily make out the writing on the spine, i.e., "25 cents"; "Marvel Tales Annual"; and "Marvel Comics Group". By the way, the book is nicely centered, as far as the block spine, which is not the norm for this book, which is nice. It might sound MUCH worse than it is. To me, it doesn't have the effect of spoiling the book, nor is it something along the lines of soiling.

For a mid-grade semi-key book that's 50 years old--and reprints the origins of Giant-Man/Wasp; Hulk; Iron Man; Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos; and last but not least, Spider-Man--it's a helluva bargain. Not tickled at all to see this one go, but debt reduction & financial peace is at stake. :sumo:
