Sold a book at C2E2, and decided to do something special...

 

I decided to commission Bob Layton for a sketch.

It was pretty amazing and turned out beautiful!

Had cgc confirm and process the work..figured what I spent for it.

This piece is now one of my personal joys to the collection.

Here's the piece before the process.

Very very nice!

 

I collected Iron Man in 1979 beginning with Volume 1, No. 124 until about issue 198. Bob Layton illustrated a good majority of those issues. His artwork capture the right tone and essence of Iron Man/Tony Stark, and Layton's rendering of "tech" was like a "Special Effects" laden movie... it always made me want more.

 

Congrats on the commission. Can't wait to see how it looks with a yellow label.

I agree. Bob is fantastic! I love his art and style. His Iron Man work is great. So was everything he did with Valiant, when they got started. Plus he's a really nice guy to boot!
