  1. Hello, Is anyone having issues using "auto build" (supposed to take your best comics in a slot and build out the set)? I have not been able to get it to work lately (I swear it work in the past). When I press the "auto build" button it waits a few seconds and does nothing. I've tried it in both Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Thanks, Mike
  2. Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane #1, #8, #16, #21, #22, #29. Mike
  3. Silver Collector

    Green Lantern 81

$325 is a great price for that book. Congrats!
  4. ASM Golden Record Reprint Point Drop In the Golden Record Comics sets the Amazing Spider-Man #1 GRR has dropped from 1200 points to 1 on a 9.6 (actually any grade). But not every ones entry has dropped. I assume this is an error? Mike
  5. More X-Men, New Mutants, and X-Factor doubles More books that I submitted at the Wizard World, Minneapolis Con. Lots of dups. The "value tier" I submitted at the same time has much less duplicates. I'll post those when they arrive. 6. Submitted 5/5, received 8/14 During the Wizard World, Minneapolis Con, in May of this year I submitted a few different tier levels of books. My modern submissions showed up today. I did peek online (because I'm weak willed). My modern submissions were a lot of duplicate books. A friend gave me some Deadpool: The Circle Chase #1. I also sent in a bunch of Wolverine Limited Series #1 (plus #2-#4), and X-Factor #1s (I have a lot of those). Here is a breakdown of the books and the grades: Deadpool: The Circle Chase #1 9.4 Deadpool: The Circle Chase #1 8.5 Deadpool: The Circle Chase #1 9.4 Deadpool: The Circle Chase #1 9.6 Thor Annual #14 9.4 Wolverine Limited Series #1 9.8 Wolverine Limited Series #1 9.6 Wolverine Limited Series #1 9.8 Wolverine Limited Series #1 9.8 Wolverine Limited Series #1 9.8 Wolverine Limited Series #2 9.0 Wolverine Limited Series #3 9.6 Wolverine Limited Series #4 9.6 Wolverine Limited Series #4 9.8 X-Factor #1 9.8 X-Factor #1 9.8 X-Factor #1 9.8 X-Factor #1 9.8 X-Factor #1 9.4 X-Factor #1 9.8 X-Factor #1 9.4 X-Factor #1 9.8 X-Factor #1 9.8 X-Factor #1 9.2 I'll post a picture that matches the list. I probably need to start selling the duplicates so I can afford to get more books graded . Thanks for reading. Mike To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. 7. It's really bronze! This is my bronze statue of Superman "Superman - More Powerful Than Ever" that I picked up at the Minneapolis con in May of this year. The sculptor is James Shoop. I remember seeing it in the Warner Bros. store at the Mall of America around the mid 1990s. I thought it was awesome when I saw it, but it was too expensive for me to own. Well, the Warner Bros. store closed down and I didn't see it again. It turned out a friend of mine bought the statue (his wife worked there and won a lottery to be able to buy it at a discount). He then sold it to another friend of mine. He kept the statue for the next 20 years! Anyway, I met him again at the Minneapolis con and asked him if he still had the statue. To make a long story short, I was able to finally acquire the statue after all these years. I plan to admire it for many more. Thanks for reading. 8. I did not see a Lois Lane #96 in the list. Here it is. Silver, I love that LL #106. I wish I had one. Mike
  9. The long long wait is over... Yesterday, after 4 long months, my books have arrived from CGC. I sent off a modern tier batch and 2 books in the economy tier. Both batches came back on the same day. The books arrived at CGC on 11/18. The moderns were taking so long at one point I had thought they were lost. Well, they are here, safe and sound. They grade as follows: Amazing Spider-Man 238 9.0 Amazing Spider-Man 239 9.6 Amazing Spider-Man 252 9.8 Alpha Flight 1 9.4 Alpha Flight 1 9.8 New Mutants 1 9.6 New Mutants 1 9.6 Thor 263 9.8 Thor 308 9.8 Thor 310 9.4 Thor 321 9.6 Thor 329 9.6 Thor 337 9.8 Thor 338 9.8 Thor 339 9.6 Thor 400 9.8 Marvel Super-Heroes 18 9.0 X-Men 65 9.2 I am pretty happy with the grades overall (not sure what I missed when I submitted the ASM #238 though). 10. Hi, I've been perusing through this thread for a couple of hours. I can't believe how many great books have been posted! I'm especially a big fan of the Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane books. Thanks to Stevenrams, steelcity, Hepcat, Silver, and others for posting your covers. A lot of those 10 cent books I had not even seen before. Makes me want to collect more comics ! Mike
  11. Not new to my collection, but just back from CGC this week (so, new as a slab). Mike
  12. Can't post a new topic to the forums I just posted a journal entry "Well, that took long enough..." and was going to add pictures in the first message as a reply, but my journal entry does't show up in the CGC Journal forums. Also, I can't post a new topic. I'm not sure what I did wrong. It's always worked that way in the past. Any tips here? Thanks, Mike To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. 13. Finally here and worth the wait! My "economy" submission from CGC is finally here! CGC received them on May 6th. And I got them back today (August 26th). They actually came to my door yesterday, but I was at work and you know how that goes. For a while I thought they would never get here. For this submission I pick mostly X-Men books, with a smattering of Amazing Spider-Man and a lone Jonah Hex. Two of the X-Men books are from the Mile High II collection, but CGC told me that they did not recognize that pedigree anymore. I'm not sure what criteria they use for unrecognizing a pedigree. Here is a list of the books: Title Issue Grade Notes Jonah Hex 1 9.6 Amazing Spider-Man 61 9.8 1st Gwen Stacy cover Amazing Spider-Man 67 9.6 1st app. Randy Robertson Amazing Spider-Man 68 9.4 X-Men 25 9.0 X-Men 40 9.2 X-Men 45 9.8 Mile High II X-Men 48 9.6 Mile High II X-Men 56 9.8 1st Neal Adams on title X-Men 57 9.6 (Neal Adams art) X-Men 60 8.5 1st app. Sauron (Neal Adams art) X-Men 61 9.8 2nd app. Sauron (Neal Adams art) X-Men 63 9.2 1st Lorelei (Neal Adams art) For better or for worse, no books were pressed prior to grading. I'll post pictures in the next message. Thanks for looking. Mike
  14. It's finally over! Well, it's finally over in that I have received all of the books I sent to CGC at the beginning of November 2013. My last batch of (24) books arrived on Wednesday. I did have a few "What the heck was I thinking sending that one in?" moments as I saw some of the lower grade books. My fault for only "cover grading" as I made my stack. It was nice to get back several DDs in the 9.4 to 9.6 range. I was also pleasantly surprised with the (2) MSH #18s. I could never seem to find those books in really high grade. Pics of everything posted below. Thanks for looking. Mike To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  15. Man, this stuff is taking its sweet time coming back! After almost 4 months I received (2) books that I sent in on the "Economy" tier. CGC received these books on November 1st. Well, Saturday I got a visit from the postman. As always, I'm very excited to open up the package even when I know what the grades are (I peeked). I want to make sure my cases are in good shape, etc. Below are my Marvel Super-Heroes #12 (1st appearance of Captain Marvel) and Marvel Super-Heroes #14. I bought these in the late 80s, probably not at the same time. I've always thought Captain Marvel was such a cool character. His second appearance is coming in on the "Value" tier expected some time this week. Thanks for reading. Mike To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  16. Here is my copy on Green Lantern #76. Mike
  17. Modern submissions I picked my modern CGC submission up from the Post Office today. I only had (2) books submitted on this tier. Some may ask why only two books on an invoice. I had always wanted a graded copy of Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe and I higher graded copy of Spider-Man #1 (Platinum). The platinum issue is so hard to get in high grade because the cover has a tendency to flake at the spine. All of my platinum submissions prior to this have been 9.4 at the highest. The other reason I only submitted (2) was that it was getting expensive (I already had (24) books in the value tier, (3) in the standard tier, and (2) in the economy tier). I'm still waiting for the economy and value tier to come back. Right now both are still at "received". Thanks for reading, Mike To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. 18. This is my only 10 cent Action Comics. I like it because it shows off the era of the more "rotund" Superman, thanks to Wayne Boring. Mike
  19. Hi n2wdw, Nice room! Nice books! Where do you get the wire shelving for your display? Mike
