More than "improperly pressed" I’d say improperly stored, i.e. it has a spine roll probably due to it being stacked under a lot of weight.

 

Not sure about the discoloration around the edges in the cover paper, but they might just have been the weather conditions in which this happened.

Alongside the spine, however, it also appears it suffered some liquid/water damage.

 

Would be my ideal copy… lol
