Predators and mopes are drawn to any given event. It doesn't matter if it's SDCC or a football game; if someone is there with bad intentions and a will to follow through on those intentions, it going to happen some time, somewhere, somehow - or an opportunity presents itself some azzhat is going to take advantage.

 

Looks like the head trauma the female sustained was the result of a fall. I'm guessing heavy intoxication and/or GHB were likely involved - this is just speculation on my part.
