MoS,

"Do as I say, NOT as I do" The avatars are hardly what I would call porn. Do you wear a G-String to the beach Joanna? Somehow I don't think so, and that's OK, but what about those that do?

Swimsuits on a beach. Sounds appropriate. Swimsuits in a board of directors meeting. Innapropriate. Why bring up an example where something is appropriate when this discussion is about something that is innapropriate?

That said whatever happened to all the "bad" girl comix? X-Men swimsuit special anyone? That hairy beast he never wears clothes, for such an intelligent mutant, he should know better, shame on him!

Those are drawings, Mos, not real people.

Did I really need to explain that?

if the parents of one of the "next generation" of comic book collectors walks in when their 14-year old son is reading these boards...what are they going to think the hobby is about?

If the parents of a 14-year old boy are so uptight about the harmless pictures their son might come across on this board (or in a major sports magazine swimsuit issue, or in a music video, or on one of a half a dozen reality TV shows they, the parents are making all the rage) then those parents have failed in their duty to properly educate their child. If they are uptight that their son might get some "unclean" ideas by looking at such pictures, then they are unrealistic.

And, as far as something being offensive, I have only this to say. If something that hurts noone offends one or two people's sensibilities, then the people in question need to modify their sensibilities. And I don't buy the BS that this is a comics forum and there is no place for that material here. There are plenty of adult comics; does the fact that we want to avoid offending the archaic sensibilities of the prudes mean that we can't discuss them here? Are we forbidden to discuss the Cherry Poptarts of the world?

Its all about having class. We dont want censorship and nobody demanded that Ricky get rid of the avatar but he showed lots of class by taking it down. Simple. He asked me to get rid of the C.I. avatar I had up and I gladly did it. Its the whole big, happy family deal..... grin.gif

Put your "Playgirl" down for a moment and listen to me.

What you said above, is sending me a double standard message. What movies do you watch? What music do you listen to? Do comic books not portray women in a sexy way? Do all the women in comic books wear turtle necks and long sleeve shirts? Is this a forum about comics? It's OK to have avatars depicting violence, but showing a little skin is out of the question? You know what they say "don't judge a book by it's cover". Some of Povertyrows avatars are...well for lack of a better word...violent or "scary", but I love reading his posts and only think the best of him. I can look beyond the surface of his avatar and see a really great poster that is appreciated. I think Dungeon said it best, "boyz will be boyz", and as long as we don't see a "pink taco" or nipples, then we're not seeing anything more than you would in a Sears catalog. blush.giflaugh.gif

Thank you for explaining the difference to me "your worship"! smirk.gif Why did you intentionally take me out of my intended context, did you not see the emotion icons? I thought you might get a laugh out of what I said in a playful manner, but obviously not.

Look Joanna, if there are any hard feeling between us for a comment I made some time ago in jest, then I'm sorry, I didn't mean anything by it, and truthfully I sent out the wrong message, and I should have held my tongue. But your response, especially the last thing you said, makes me wonder if your not "grinding an axe" with me. confused.gif I wish I could read you women's minds' sometimes. wink.gif

This is my prudish opinion but I believe sex is far to prevelant in our society and that we are becoming desensitized because of it.

MOS...all of the examples that you stated for Joanna seem to exemplify my position.
