UPDATED MARVEL BRONZE FIRST APP. 1970 to 1980

– Amazing Spider-Man #129: as Lonzilla pointed out is also the first Jackal (Prof. Miles Warren, very important) which later produces a clone of himself (Carrion) continuing his evil deeds;

 

– Avengers #72: Should be the proper first appearance of Zodiac; in Defenders #49 a second team appears, but is made of androids (with Scorpio being the only human member: he commits suicide at the end of the story arc); you also wrote "Zodiak" in the Defenders' entry, but it’s still "Zodiac" (with the "c");

 

– Captain America #168: You should specify that he’s Baron Zemo (2nd) as the first died in early Avengers issues;

 

– Wendell Waughn appears first as Marvel Man (in Captain America #217) and then changes his name to Quasar (in Incredible Hulk #234);

 

– Defenders #17-18: They are both important as the first Wrecking Crew, as they team up with Luke Cage in #17, and the Wrecking Crew is fully shown in the final panel (and calling themselves as such).

 

– Marvel Spotlight #12 (Son of Satan) should be dropped, as Daimon Hellstrom’s first appearance is in Ghost Rider #1 (partial) and #2 (full).

 

– I have already pointed this one out, I consider it is important: Tomb of Dracula #16-17 is the first appearance of Dracula's arch-enemy Doctor Sun (also relevant for Nova, and later ends in the pages of the Fantastic Four in the "Champions of Xandar" storyline);

 

Some more typos:

– Salem's Seven (not Salems Seven);

– Moon Kinght (not Moonknight);

#17 was never really a cameo (except in the case of The Wrecker) as the word has been historically misused in comics. But the book is a 1st brief appearance of the Wrecking Crew. All I recall is the huge Defenders (and Cage) and the Wrecking Crew standoff splash page at the end.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only other recollection I have of the Wrecking Crew in that book was a mention of them from a news reporter about them destroying buildings.

I think their appearance is more real than merely a teaser. But I will check when I get home. :)

After hearing thoughts on my previous journal I have opted to put the list on one or two pages.

 

I am trying to keep minor first appearances out. Characters that died in same issue or so (unless an important act in the Marvel Universe. Boyfriends, girlfriends, neighbors and the like will not be on the set.
