Unlike Heritage Auctions traditional auction format where you can bid on phone, person or online, but much like eBay, on ComicLink it's online bidding only, it's easy to get outbid and lose or on the positive side, it's much easier here to snipe to win for bargain pricing since there's a fixed time the auction ends, no "going once... going twice... WAIT!" final opportunity bidding like at H.A., at ComicLink once an auction is about to end it ends at the stated end time... So, be sure to check your bids, submit your best offer bids, and be online when the auction closes if you want this piece.

The offered pin-up art penciled by Rick Leonardi and inked by Jimmy Palmiotti dates from the 1993 Marvel Swimsuit Special and features Spider-Man 2099 Miguel O'Hara enjoying a day on the beach (or so they think!) with Lyla -LYrate Lifeform Approximation - an android personal assistant modeled after Marilyn Monroe. The character has been re-introduced this year in the Superior Spider-Man series, whose renewed popularity warranted a relaunch of the Spider-Man 2099 title in 2014. This is certainly one of the best known image of Lyla, with this figure even used on the character's Marvel Wikia page. This art has an image area of approximately 10" x 15" on standard 11" x 17" board.

This mini-series was done in 2007 for Marvel Comics but remains currently unpublished, with 5 issues completed and in Marvel's inventory vault for future release consideration.

This is a cover quality pin-up splash page featuring a female Thor character as part of "The Avengers" of a future Marvel universe created by Kirkman and Liefeld. This piece obviously pre-dates the announcement by Marvel of the highly anticipated the Thor series in October 2014 where a yet to be revealed female character becomes the new Thor.

Who knew that artist Rob Liefeld and writer Robert Kirkman created a female Thor way back in 2007? With the announcement all over the news that a new Thor will be introduced soon, this is a timely offering and an unusual piece. This is the climactic end page for the second issue #2 of a Killraven series written by Robert Kirkman (of "The Walking Dead" fame) and illustrated in pencil by Rob Liefeld. This mini-series was done in 2007 for Marvel Comics but remains unpublished, with 5 issues completed and in Marvel's inventory vault for future release consideration.

Liefeld's art has long held a very devoted collector following and this is a pretty special example of his work in the Modern era. This art has an image area of approximately 10" x 15" executed on standard 11" x 17" board. It is signed by Liefeld at the lower left.

Drew Struzan - "Hotwire" movie poster illustration, for the 1980 action comedy film starring Bruce Paul Barbour, written and directed by Frank Q. Dobbs. This was drawn by American illustrator, Drew Struzan, best known as the illustrator of epic movie posters for blockbuster movies like Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Blade Runner, Back to the Future, The Goonies, Harry Potter, and so many other memorable films.

This is a concept piece for the movie "Hotwire" although not used as the final poster, as an image if far more remarkable than what was eventually used for the film.

ComicLink Comments:

This finely detailed drawing is the work of American illustrator Drew Struzan, best known as the creator of epic movie posters for blockbuster movies like Star Wars,Raiders of the Lost Ark, Blade Runner, Back to the Future, The Goonies, Harry Potter, and so many other memorable films. Credited with over 150 movie posters since the second half of the 1970s, he is not only one of the most prolific creators in his field, but also one of the most influential. This 1980 work was done as a concept piece for the action-comedy movie Hotwire, right around the same time Struzan was working on pieces for some of the most famous films of the past 40 years. Although not used as the final poster, it is in our opinion a more memorable image than what was used and a very nice example of this important artist's work from one of the most desirable periods of his remarkable career.

Captain America and his trusted partner, the Falcon, are featured in this panel page from Jack Kirby's Bronze Age return to his famous patriotic creation. The Falcon was just introduced in the Marvel movies, and the Cap and Falcon are still battling the forces of evil on the silver screen within the blockbuster Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Marvel announced that the Falcon will be replacing Steve Rogers as Captain America in All New Captain America #1 in the fall of 2014, which should only increase demand for art featuring the pair. This 1976 page dates from a period of the "King's" art with an ever-increasing collector appeal. This art has an image area of approximately 10" x 15".

JIM STERANKO Comic Book Sequential Storyboard

James "Jim" Steranko is an American illustrator best known by comic fans for his breakthrough film noir art style in the 1960's for Marvel Comics on titles like Nick Fury Agent of SHIELD, Strange Tales, The X-Men as well as his cover work on The Fantastic Four, Sheena The She Devil and a dozen or so other titles.

This was done in August 1979 at a comic convention (U.K. Comic Art & Fantasy Convention in Birmingham, England ?) where Steranko was demonstrating how to illustrate a comic book scene, and is a sequential storyboard, where you can feel the emotion and action through Steranko's imagery.

This is a breathtakingly epic sized piece measuring an astonishing 30" x 40" (nearly 3 1/2 feet tall and 2 1/2 feet wide!) on thick sturdy poster board and is one of Steranko's largest in size pieces in existence.

This is a unique piece that comes with a certificate of authenticity from Profiles in History, the company featured on the SyFy network's TV show "Hollywood Treasure" along with the Profiles in History auction catalog and a copy of the auction listing as additional provenance.

ComicLink Comments:

Despite his massive influence in comic books, Jim Steranko produced a relatively small amount of art for the comic book medium before moving on to other projects like illustration and publishing. His influential work brought surrealist, op-art and graphic design motifs into the medium and his work for Marvel in the second half of the 1960s on Captain America and Nick Fury remain touchstones for comic artists to this day. Steranko art in general is quite rare on the open market and the offered piece is extremely unique.

Executed in August 1979 at a comic convention where Steranko was demonstrating how to illustrate a comic book scene, this over-sized page demonstrates the visual story-telling techniques that are core to the medium. With a clear film noir influence and loaded with emotion and action, this is a very special example of this master creator's work on an immense scale. With an astonishing image area of approximately 23.5" x 33" rendered on thick illustration board, this has to be one of the very largest Steranko creations that has ever been brought to market and certainly the largest work with a "comic book page" motif. Framed to 30" x 40" overall it would make an extremely impressive display item. This art is signed and dated at the bottom of the final panel. It is additionally accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from a previous auction sale. It is executed in ink and marker on poster board.

ComicLink Comments:

This bold, over-sized reproduction of a Tim Sale painting was used for the hit NBC TV series as an onscreen prop. Tim Sale is one of the most unique visionaries in comics today and a widely collected artist. This features the character Claire "The Cheerleader" Bennet portrayed by actress Hayden Panettiere on the autopsy table as painted by Isaac Mendez (Santiago Cabrera) whose character has the clairvoyant powers to "paint the future" and is a screen used prop featured on the NBC television series "Heroes" season 1 in episode 8 entitled "Parasite" which aired on March 4, 2007. This painting was featured as part of Daniel Linderman's (Malcolm McDowell) collection in The Linderman Group's Corinthian Casino.

The body of Sale's comics work has been with collaborator Jeph Loeb. The duo, credited as "storytellers", produced incredibly popular work such as; Batman: The Long Halloween, Batman: Dark Victory, as well as being the creative force behind some of Marvel's primary properties: Spider-Man, Daredevil and the Hulk. Interest in Sale's work rose dramatically after it was featured in the hugely successful television series Heroes. His artwork appears in the show as the work of the precognitive artist Isaac Mendez as well as other artists on the show. Additionally, the font used throughout the show in the various captions and credits was created by Sale and it is based on his handwriting style. This is an exciting opportunity for the Heroes fan or the comic collector that appreciates Sale's work. Unlike Heritage Auctions traditional auction format where you can bid on phone, person or online, but much like eBay, on ComicLink it's online bidding only, it's easy to get outbid and lose or on the positive side, to snipe to win for bargain pricing since there's a fixed time the auction ends, no "going once... going twice... WAIT!" final opportunity bidding like at H.A., at ComicLink once an auction is about to end it ends at the stated end time... So, be sure to check your bids, submit your best offer bids, and be online when the auction closes if you want this piece.

ComicLink Comments:

This tremendous, over-sized 17" x 25" cover painting features the entire Fantastic Four team in cosmic ray induced action. Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben all appear on this highly finished painting by Joe Jusko published as the cover to Marvel Double Shot #3. With lush colors and eye popping action, this cover certainly accomplishes what it was meant to do - get readers to open the book and find out what happens next! Joe Jusko is renowned for his highly realistic and detailed work in the comics and the fantasy genres. He is one of the most prolific illustrators working in the medium today and his depictions of Marvel characters are among his most desirable. This artwork was also licensed for use in the 2013 Marvel Fleer Retro trading card set for the rare insert chase card sub-set, the 1991 Marvel Universe, on cards #14 (Mr. Fantastic) and #17 (The Thing). The piece is accompanied by a copy of published comic book.
