This is just awesome – I wonder how many did they print, and if it was a common choice in the mid-1930s to have a coated paper cover larger than the book.

It's a very cool item. There are fewer things more rewarding than collecting rare 1930s fanzines and semi-prozines. It was in these scarce fragile booklets that the fandom we are all a part of was born.

JULES VERNE - FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON

1st English Edition

Sampson Low, London 1873 (predates American edition and is much scarcer)

 

All original green boards with fantastic black and gilt stamping. One of the most fantastic covers of the Victorian era. Gilt stamping is at least 80% intact on cover and spine. Page ends on three sides are gilded.

 

Frontispiece is intact, along with tissue guard. Contains dozens and dozens of beautiful full-page engravings. Pages are in excellent condition and binding is solid. Front and rear hinges are slightly exposed (much better condition than typical copy of this book). Boards are in excellent condition and only slightly rubbed at corners and bottom of spine. A beautiful copy!
