Did you ever stole a comic from the rack...?!

60 posts in this topic

No not comics, but I got a humdinger for ya!

I got caught when I was about five or six stuffing my pockets with little parachute men toys

at a hobby store (right up at the front register).

The store owner looked over and down at me at said "boy whatcha doing!"

I replied that I was "just checking to see if they'd fit in my pocket"!

At that time, he was laughing his asss off and aloud me to quickly put the stuff back and make a break down the street.

I never stole many things after that, but I always remembered that I could of made a good joker

villian because I could make 'em laugh as I got a clean getaway! 27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif27_laughing.gif

Nope... after stealing chocolate chips (at the prodding of the class delinquent in first grade) from a classmate in first grade, I wouldn't dream of stealing something as valuable as a comic.

Thanks,

Yes not from the racks. A local convention. I was stupid and young. My friend and I went to a local Star Trek convention in 1979. The convention was on the top floor of a local hotel near a horserace track. Remember Sulu was a guest. The dealer's room was separate from the film room with folding wall dividers. The dealer's room closed at night. We were watching a Star Trek episode on the film room screen and my friend leaned their chair against the divider. It moved back opening a gap into the dealer's room. My friend went in. I followed. He grabbed comics off the wall and dropped them outside over the balcony. I did too. They landed on the hotel gym roof. We quickly left the room and went downstairs to grab the comics. Two comics landed on room balconeys a few floors up. We climbed up and grabbed them. Got home and counted the comics. Had about 50-60 I think. Old comics too. Fantastic Four 12 and Spiderman 1 were two. I never went to another convention. My friend and I stopped hanging around afterwards.

Wasn't that the Woody who committed suicide after being jailed when he fell $5.00 short on his IRS bill in 1974 and couldn't handle the penalties and interest along with the physical abuse in prison? Just off Jericho Turnpike?

Yep. There was a section of the grocery store that didn't have the "eye in the sky" and I stole some issues of West Coast Avengers #1 by sticking them in my coat. 27_laughing.gif

It just goes to prove that crime doesn't pay.

Sell it on eBay and give the proceeds to charity.

I see that you're a Doctor Who fan like myself.

By the way, the only thing I ever stole was when I opened a couple of bubble gum wrappers to complete my football sticker collection. I hated buying 50 gums to find the last two cards.

I never took anything, but a friend of mine swiped a Looney Tunes comic book and got caught at a Creation Con in Philly in the early eighties. He didn't get into any real trouble, they just kicked him out of the convention.

Never stole anything from the comic shop. 893naughty-thumb.gif

My buddy and I used to steal action figures (GI Joe, Justice League, Marvel Heroes) from the toy store to shoot w/ BB guns or blow up with firecrackers. smile.gif
