The books for the three stories have been out for nearly 20 years so I don't think it's going to be a surprise.

Lucasfilm has declared all Extended Universe material set after the other films to be non canonical, so the filmmakers can do whatever they want.

This one is set 30 years after Jedi, so something may have happened in between films. But it is hard to imagine.

Not much of a plot IMHO. Whereas a Solo offspring turning would work or even the Yuuzhan Vong story.

Liking what I'm seeing so far, that's for sure.

 

I can't see them pulling out the Dark Empire story, big risk tainting the character. Man, I need to dig out my trades.
