SEEKING Feedback on ZAP COMIX 0-5 and FREAK BROTHERS 1-2

7 posts in this topic

Recently came across a small collection that had ZAP COMIX 0-5 and FREAK BROTHERS 1-2. The ZC #1 is either a 2nd or 3rd print. What comments can you offer on these? Not really that knowledgable on these indies. Thanks in advance :hi:

Zap #0 is a second or later

Zap #1 is a third or later

Zap #2 is a probable 2nd or later. Check the inside page titled "Head First" and if it is off 'balance' or skewed compared to the rest of the issue, you should have a first.

Zap #3, how thick is the cover stock compared to ..say #2?

Zap #4, I defer to 50cent as he's the man with the plan

Zap #5 looks like a first

FB #1 is a later printing

FB #2 should have rainbow colors on the inside front cover for a 1st, if I recall correctly and if not, is a later printing.

Your best bet is to await 50cent chiming in as he's the hardcore research maven when it comes to those books, but there are a few where the covers tell the story, and on those I'm reasonably certain I've given you some sound observations!

I agree with Brother J. #0 is a third printing. If you're going to get into undergrounds may I suggest seeking out the Kennedy guide? It's very in-depth and really helps to identify what printing you've got. As a supplement to the Kennedy guide, I recommend Fogel's guide.

The Kennedy Guide is a great resource, and a must for any underground comix fan, even if the values are now meaningless. Looking on Amazon it seems you can pick up a decent copy for not too much. It's easier to find now than it was 20 years ago when I got $50 in trade for my undercopy from a comic shop owner that wanted one for himself.
