I'd be leery about leaving the books in the car overnite at a motel.

 

I agree 100%...no way I was going to do that. I was prepared to either (1) drive straight through, or (2) sleep in the car with them if necessary.

 

As it turned out, we have friends in Winston-Salem, NC, which was basically en route...we made an overnight pit stop at their house. I made the guy pull his car out of his attached garage so I could pull the "comic car" in there so it was secured...and I still didn't really sleep that well
