Web Page Software?

4 posts in this topic

A good friend setup space for me on his web server. My pacbell.net account allows me 3MB but this one - well - it has a lot more than I can use.

I have no problem FTPing my files to the site. BUT - even though I am a network engineer, my web knowledge truly is a POS. Can anyone recommend the simplest way for me to be able to hit my page, see a list of the files I have uploaded, and then CLICK ON THEM to actually view them?

Or even better, an FTP program that lists the stuff I have uploaded but also lets me double-click etc to view them in IE?

Thanks!

Internet Explorer itself supports FTP; using it, you can double-click files or drag and drop to copy stuff to and from the space. Just type the ftp protocol before the URL instead of http. If you have trouble, try typing ftp://povertyrow@mywebsite.com, where you substitute your username for "povertyrow" and your ISP's address for "mywebsite.com".
