not an entry, but Retro inspired an instaverse.

Ten to twelve -- goodbye cruel world,

Eight of -- fingers clawed and curled,

Five of -- I tear off my clothes,

Three of – fur upon me grows,

Midnight – wings, and a thirst so strong --

Fat necks I’ll seek – all night long.

"Don't forget to send in your entries by June 16th for the contest to me (retro) in pm!"

This lost to my entry, so it goes,

But only by a half-a-nose.

At least it can remind you folk:

The deadline’s looming. Gasp, choke…

Nice one, Pat! Thanks for the reminder that the deadline is looming, June 16th. I am still trying to figure out a prize besides the obvious bragging rights of course. Remember this go around can be any genre you see fit. Romance, crime, war, the infamous Alf humping a seal cover if that inspires you...your choice! Send them to me via pm so I can post them anonymously for voting. Thanks!

Not my entry but a quick inspiration!

*sung to the tune of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Music Of The Night* :shy:

Creepy - crawly

slimy overall, he

comes out at night

thinking that he might...

Find another victim,

one who hasn't picked him

out to be a monster who will bite...

But he is a creature of the niiight!

I have had some entries trickling in but I have decided to extend the deadline until Sunday. Hope this allows some people on the fence to join in the party. I have decided the prize will be this fair copy of Men's Adventures 26. Not pretty but hard to get and has good reads.

(Not my contest entry)

Death was their pilot

fear was their fuel

as they ventured boldly into space

the universe was theirs to rule

They chanced upon a neutron star

making good their escape from yon despotic czar

but navigated in too closely to take a look

till the hulk of their ship severely shook

Now they wish they would have stayed

back home and in the rock pile played

as they are stuck in orbit out in space

for all concerned vanished without a trace

But then upon a whim they gambled

put that ship in warp and scrambled

pulling against the gravitational field

turned that rocket round and wheeled

Back towards Alpha Centauri

hoping they would not be sorry

and once they entered charted space

they might again find a place

That would be a strongly fortified haven

far from that madly drunken maven

exquisitely schooled in the art of torture

his solitary cell a devilish scorcher

RIGHT ON!

here's an instaverse for the other side of the double

img2730.jpg

Control was what they wanted; perhaps it’s best

To be spontaneous with a jest.

This head is a grim joke, it’s true,

But it will take a shock to break through

The veneer of deception they call the good life.

Down below, the crawling horrors are rife --

And at the pit’s bottom they craft the big lies,

A reality of greed and vanities.

They’ve trimmed truth down to a few rebel souls,

While hordes of robots enforce their controls,

Hunting those who dare to deviate.

I must act now, before it’s too late.

The light will shine from the blackest humor,

And the vile illusions will shake and shatter.

I’ll wake the slumbering folk from their dream --

Even though they must awake with a scream.

plenty of time, Sir Porcupine;

'The Gorilla Man' may still be thine.

and I wanted to repost Dale's work,

which I buried with my kneejerk

reactaverse.

Sir Pat that's not a worry

as we teamed up in sorta a hurry

and shaped a couple insta-verse rhymes

to encourage others to add theirs in time

for next Sunday's the new deadline

to figure it out and post a rhyme

Ive been working on verse

Like a dog on a bone

Taking inspiration from

My rib xylophone

Ill never forget stripping the meat

Thinking about thumping

Out a tinking zombie beat

Oh just winning the mag...

Man it would be swell

So I dont have to go back

To institutionalized hell

Yeah,i had a breakdown

Nine days in the hole

But better to be above ground

Than living with moles

So I practice my craft

Hone it sharp as a blade

If I get that Mens Adventure

I'll be smiling in my daze....

Sort of a true story,i had a nervous breakdown last month,I hated it in there...

Row, row, row your boat

quietly past the decaying

Don't let a noise come out your throat

Listen to what I'm saying!

For any noise will wake the dead

And they'll drag you under water

if you steal from them so it's been said

especially if it's their daughter!

Glub, glub, glub you drown

As your life slowly fades away

Though the girl did wear a beautiful gown

It will not be your wedding day!

PS: Not my entry, just an instaverse! :hi:

Changing of the guard

So now 19 days into the apocalypse

Unforgiving sun, cracked parched lips

Fires still burn on the mountains above

None that remained were shown God's love

Progress that took a thousand years

Quickly washed away in a sea of tears

Clearly the mighty impact of the winged ones fall

Can be seen in the burning buildings and shopping malls

The only blessing of my newly formed life

Is that my family didn't survive the New World strife

The devil has made known his calling card

All has witnessed the changing of the guard
