How long do you....

1 variant.

In one month (Dec 2004), Marvel released:

Avengers #1 (Finch cvr)

Avengers #1 (dunno artist - Spidey on cvr - variant)

Avengers #1 (Quesada cvr variant)

Avengers #1 (Director's cut)

Avengers #1 (Finch variant)

Also, you know as well as I that Diamond's #s are for store orders. The 2 stores I frequent have lots of leftover #1s available. Nonetheless, gotta give it to Marvel in

releasing both NA and Ultimates Vol #2 in one month - nice Xmas bonus! grin.gif

Heidi M.'s commentary from The Pulse:

"Joyfully happy numbers. Few books manage to double their sales from issue to issue. Even fewer manage to do it twice in one year. NEW AVENGERS #1 charts twice in December, because the Directors Cut edition is listed seperately. However, it's basically the same comic, so I've combined the sales here. The actual numbers were 240,724 of the ordinary edition and 38,073 of the director's cut - so even looking at the ordinary edition alone, it still doubled its sales."

I'm also betting that the Quesada and Finch Variants aren't included in that 240,000 copy figure.

Another bit from the Pulse: Marvel's going to cancel this?

The Quesada cover was printed by order apparently. So I doubt it was included. And the McNiven Spidey Cover was 1 in 20, so it was probably included in that 240,000. Only 91,000 bough Avengers 501? Man, people are missing out on a good story. Good art at the very least.

I have to agree with Kevin though - NA #3 was the first issue that didn't insult the reader's intelligence (although it came close).

So with a huge new Stark Towers skyscraper available, why didn't Tony move the original Avengers there? He seems to have no problem putting the new team there. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

And where did that apple come from? smile.gif

I like Bendis. And I loved every minute of Avengers Disassembled. Never was a huge Avengers fan, so I didn't mind seeing them get the shaft. I'd never purchased an issue before #500. Bought 500-503 specifically because I wanted to see their world come crashing down. I found it exciting. And now I have a second chance become a fan of an Avengers series.

It's my belief that true Avengers fans had been fans for a long time, but new readers would much rather see a new beginning. So you old fogies out there need to deal wink.gifinsane.gif

I like Bendis too, but I hated Avengers Disassembled. New Avengers has been getting better. So far it's been a lot of setup.

Destroying a franchise to get the mythical new readers is a lot of bs. At the rate sales are falling, NA will likely be down to pre-Disassembled numbers by the end of it's first year.

The only other thing I've got to say is this: Rebuild the Vision. He's a great character and he's rotting in a box at Stark Industries.

New name, same old same old. sleeping.gif

So, no answer to Stark Towers? How about Cage saying he isn't much of a team guy? FF, Defenders, and Heroes for Hire make him a loner? Whatever...
