Hi Grade Fantastic Four From Canarsie Collection in Pedigree Comics’ May Auction

Pedigree Comics has acquired on consignment a fabulous collection of 1960’s and early 1970’s Marvels for the company’s upcoming May Grand Auction. The auction is scheduled to begin in just over one week, on the night of Monday, May 11th and last for ten (10) days until the night of Thursday, May 21st as a separate event on the Pedigree Comics website (www.PedigreeComics.com). There is no Buyers Premium on any of the lots in the auction and every item will have no reserve. Every book is CGC graded and there is no minimum bid for this Grand Auction. Most of the books from the consignment were purchased at the now defunct Canarsie Comics shop in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn, New York (hence the nickname “Canarsie Collection”). The collection features deep runs of the following mainstream Silver into Bronze Age Marvel titles: Amazing Spider-Man; Avengers; Captain America; Daredevil; Fantastic Four; Incredible Hulk; Iron Man and Journey Into Mystery/Thor. The collection also consists of smaller groups of issues from Captain Marvel; Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD; Silver Surfer; Tales to Astonish and X-Men. The average grade of the books is around 9.2-9.4 but there will be many 9.6 and 9.8 examples. Almost every book has either off-white to white or white page quality and immaculate structure. The collection totals over 650 books and every one of them will be listed in the auction without a reserve.

 

One of the best runs of the collection (next to Amazing Spider-Man and Avengers) is Fantastic Four. There are over 55 books to choose from between issue #10 and issue #142 plus Fantastic Four Annual #4. There are many outstanding ultra high grade copies in this run, particularly on the early Silver Age issues. Here are just some of the highlights:
