Hi Grade Captain America From Canarsie Collection in Pedigree's Grand Auction!

1 post in this topic

We have acquired on consignment a fabulous collection of 1960’s and early 1970’s Marvels for our upcoming May Grand Auction. The auction is scheduled to begin in just one (1) day, on the night of Monday, May 11th and last for ten (10) days until the night of Thursday, May 21st as a separate event on the Pedigree Comics website (www.PedigreeComics.com). There is no Buyers Premium on any of the lots in the auction and every item will have no reserve. Every book is CGC graded and there is no minimum bid for this Grand Auction. The starting bid on each lot is only $1. You can view over 675 lots in the Auction Preview right now. Just go to the Pedigree Comics website and click on the Grand Auctions banner.

Most of the books from the consignment were purchased at the now defunct Canarsie Comics shop in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn, New York (hence the nickname “Canarsie Collection”). The collection features deep runs of the following mainstream Silver into Bronze Age Marvel titles: Amazing Spider-Man; Avengers; Captain America; Daredevil; Fantastic Four; Incredible Hulk; Iron Man and Journey Into Mystery/Thor. The collection also consists of smaller groups of issues from Captain Marvel; Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD; Silver Surfer; Tales to Astonish and X-Men. The average grade of the books is around 9.2-9.4 but there will be many 9.6 and 9.8 examples. Almost every book has either off-white to white or white page quality and immaculate structure. The collection totals over 650 books and EVERY ONE of them will be listed in the auction without a reserve.

One of the best and deepest runs of the collection is Captain America. This is a stunning run of late 1960’s and early 1970’s comic books, with most of the issues in 9.4 and higher! There are 66 issues in total between #100 and #171 with only a few missing. There are also a few doubles as Captain America was one of the consignor’s favorite titles. Here are the highlights:
